Ever After: A Cinderella Story DVD

Take away the Fairy Godmother, and what you have left the story of Cinderella? The story of a girl who unfortunately can not compete with her inner strength and purity of heart. Drew Barrymore plays Cinderella's alleged inspiration, Danielle, in this romantic drama that purports to tell the "facts" behind the Grimm brothers' story. One of the three daughters of a man (Jeroen Krabbe), who dies and leaves his fate in the hands of scheming stepmother (Anjelica Huston), Danielle is cast into the role of a humble servant. At the same time, his sister is estimated as the boys, and a French prince (Dougray Scott), but is much more intrigued by Danielle intelligence and beauty - not to mention her way with the sword and fist.Directed by Andy Tennant (who directed Barrymore in TV History Amy Fisher), even after he has rare ability to win the hearts and mind of a viewer simply by being committed to his own innocence, especially when the light output Barrymore concerned. A contemporary version of an old convention, almost forgotten Hollywood - the costume adventure with a mediocre artistic ambition but real audience appeal - for a movie is always surprisingly delicious. - Tom Keogh
