Altered States DVD

Who wants to guess that one of the greatest films psychedelic, would not be released in the late 60's or early 70's, but in 1980! "Altered States" ranks up there, "El Topo", "2001" and "Performance" as the film more hallucinogenic. Do not expect anything like this trip just a pretentious film directed primarily to appeal to stoners. "Altered States" is a film that seems more and more intelligent in-depth multiple screens. It can be a head-trip film, but you do not need drugs to have fun and enjoy this film.

This is probably the best film by Ken Russell. Russell is best known for his gaudy field and over-the-top, like "Tommy" and "Devils". This is one of the most striking of his films, because for once, think too much visual inspection. And 'only during the hallucination that he remembers this is a film by Ken Russell. The effects of these sequences are fantastic, and probably the highlight of the whole movie. Acting is also a first class, if largely overwhelmed by the direction and screenplay by Paddy Chayefsky Russell.

Only problem I have is a change order. When Hurt becomes a gorilla, it will be a surreal silly. However, this is Ken Russell's film, so I think it was a small field. It 'still fun and not boring enough to reduce the overall brightness of the film.

Going The Distance DVD movies

Imagine if someone made a film about people whose Facebook friend requests regularly rejected.

You know the type: They call or text at inappropriate times, willing to give all the details about your weekend shadow miserable recent disappointments at work, the last date that had to endure terrible, or variety other topics that love to stay blissfully ignorant. When they are selfish, self-pity are, and in the rare moments when something good will happen to them, rain on their parade in overanalyzing, be convinced that this is a buildup to another disappointment inevitable.

But even if Twitter can be locked in and delete e-mails without reading, you can avoid these bad luck harangers forever. For example, you could buy a ticket to see the first real-life couple Drew Barrymore and Justin Long in "Going the Distance", which is sold as a comedy cute difficulty of long distance love. In fact, as lovely as Courtney Love and fun as a scale of six hours in Newark.

The film was directed by Nanette Burstein, whose documentary "American Teen" was an insightful look into a small town high school life. Maybe its follow-up, Burstein wanted to tackle a project that had no connection with real life. He found: "Distance" is built around the thirties Garrett (long) and Erin (Barrymore), who speak like pre-adolescents, who have just found the strength to swear when they drink too much, too often cries, and explain their "needs" too often.

They meet at a dive bar in New York City, hours after Garrett was dumped by his girlfriend to believe when she said she wanted nothing for his birthday. Erin Garrett and connect to an arcade game Centipede, jokes about "Top Gun" and "Dirty Dancing" and a powerful blend of cheap beer and marijuana, leading to a late night hook and some anxiety early in the morning all stakeholders.

But instead of developing a contemporary twist in "About Last Night", the film degenerates into a hodgepodge of toxic convincing raunchiness (which is the most uncomfortable Barrymore actress when she is called to render a storm?) And pseudo-serious they can "talk about our relationship-ay-ay-ay-relationship" moments that are tailor made for a relaxing holiday or long trips in the entry hall table. As in the worst romantic comedies, to express love is much less important than constantly barking in the mechanics of being in love, trade rules of the agreement and complain at length about everything under the sun and moon.

Geoff LaTulippe script is no longer a feeling of when it comes to professions Erin and Garrett. Work in the music world, which seems to alt-rock, sub-activities of the Sub Pop, but it is presumably driven to sign a threesome Teen cuties, which can be "the next Jonas Brothers." He stages the fictional New York Sentinel, where you turn the machine publishing stories that corrects his cards with red label and strictly hands it back to him, apparently so that he can take the room Linotype for inclusion in a tabloid weekly § with Nellie Bly latest shows and the last column Dear Beatrice Fairfax.

Skipped Parts DVD

Ignored parts, or Wonder of the sex of her title in the UK, is an absolutely charming gem of a film.

I was completely engrossed in the story of age, which is very rewarding for the viewer, offering a good script, solid direction and acting wonderful.

Unconventional relationship with her mother and her teenage son freed one hand, and his occasional lover of India, on the one hand and the unconventional friendship by his son and his "girlfriend" to find a sexual (which leads to pregnancy), all of this is described in the course of treatment, and the apparent simplicity, but without being judgmental. That's why it works so well.

Acting is top notch! Jennifer Jason Leigh proves once again that not only is one of the best actresses around today, but that she chooses her roles well. Bug Hall and Mischa Barton (who in turn does an excellent job in TV time) are very promising for talented players.

The attitude of adolescents about sexuality is delightfully naive and sometimes funny. When Barton character remain at the place of Sam after her pregnancy (her father did not approve of what happened) and he offers to sleep outside on the couch, she suggests charming Ina is just average .. sleep on the floor if I need you!.

The pieces you missed a very rewarding and underrated film unfortunately, that deserves to be in your collection.

Riding In Cars With Boys DVD

Riding in Cars with Boys with broad appeal as a tearjerker with humor Hardscrabble. Hands very popular director Penny Marshall, Beverly Donofrio Memoirs lose much of its best-selling real-life gravity, but its rich humanity back in abundance, especially since Drew Barrymore plays Donofrio with effortless charm. The film spans 20 years, pregnancy Bev to 15 in 1963 (actually 17 in the book), through welfare parenthood with a heroin-addicted husband (Steve Zahn) and semi-adult resentment as his teenage son (Adam Garcia) outweighs its ultimate goal of finishing college and publishing her memoirs. For all of Barrymore perseverance winning project is a good heart loser Zahn gives the film its true soul while giving a hint of honeyed sentiments Marshall. The equipment to pray for the subtle hint of James L. Brooks (who produced this and Marshall Big hit more difficult), but it will not stop the film to attract a legion of admirers.

Titan A.E. DVD movies

A visual knockout, Titan AE is an ambitious animated feature that combines traditional animations, computer generated images and special effects in the service of a science fiction adventure with narrative conventions familiar from Star Wars plotted and Star Trek. Credit directors Don Bluth (An American Tail, The Secret of NIMH, Anastasia) and Gary Goldman, creating a vivid, convincing look to this deep space saga, which conjures up images superb. A tense opening sequence culminating in the destruction of the Earth, a watery planet where delicate but deadly hydrogen trees float, joyriding in a vessel while pursued by playful "space angels," and an exciting journey through a maze of deadly mass of ice crystals each qualify as mesmerizing sequences in any context of the film. How much space is visually impressive evidence of strain on the narrative front, however. Orphaned when the evil Turn atomize Earth, protagonist Cale (voiced by Matt Damon) travel through space to solve the mystery of the final draft of her late father, the Titan spacecraft, in a test of faith and the filial identity that echoes Star Wars. Titan itself ultimately represents a cosmic potential familiar to admirers of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Comical sidekicks (Nathan Lane, Janeane Garofalo, John Leguizamo), a sensual love story (Drew Barrymore) and a roguish mentor (Bill Pullman) all point to the generic, narrowly redeemed by dialogue from a writing team including Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon. It is likely that Titan's target audience of young males prompted the filmmakers to walk a tightrope between family characteristics and anime softer violent, hard-edged. Blood Titan Field Coy brief stop nudity PG-13, but younger viewers may be disturbed by the violence. Teenagers is the procedure tamer video games and anime fantasies that have influenced. - Sam Sutherland
